Washington, DC Tours - Fall/Winter Tour and Visitor Center Hours of Operation

This fall through spring 2018, the Washington, DC Tour and Visitor Center is anticipated to undergo a structural renovation.  Tours will continue to run during this time.  If you plan to visit the Bureau of Engraving and Printing during this timeframe, please check back prior to your visit for changes in entry locations, tour times, and for information regarding accessibility for those with disabilities.

Located in the heart of the Nation's Capital, the BEP's Washington, DC Tour and Visitor Center is a great place to learn all about U.S. paper currency.  You can see millions of dollars being printed as you walk along the gallery overlooking the production floor!  The free 40-minute experience includes an introductory film and gallery tour of the production process.  The visitor center includes exhibits and currency products for sale.

Admission is free.  Tickets are not required to visit, September 5, 2017 through March 2, 2018.

The entrance is located on 14th Street, SW, near C Street. 

Hours of Operation – September 5, 2017 until March 23, 2018


9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. (Advanced Reservations for Large Groups Only)

Tour runs every 15 minutes

8:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.


BEP offers tours on a first-come, first-served basis.  All visitors are required to pass through a security screening.

Visitors must wait at the entrance for tour guide direction to enter the building.

The BEP is open to the public weekdays, Monday through Friday, and  closed on weekends and Federal holidays. We’ll be closed the following dates through March 2018:

Monday, October 9 Columbus Day
Friday, November 10 Veterans Day
Thursday, November 23 Thanksgiving Day
Thursday, December 22 - January 2 BEP’s annual closure
Monday, January 15 Martin Luther King Day
Monday, February 19 Presidents Day

The BEP is a federal government organization and adheres to closure, late arrival or early dismissal guidance issued by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).  OPM determines the federal agency operating status for the Washington, DC area.
